'Creative Terrain' is a collaborative short course offered to prospective M.LA student's at the Bartlett School of Architecture's new landscape architecture campus on Wicklow Street.
Over the course of a week, students from all over the world and across disciplines including ceramics, anthropology, biology, environmental science and various built environment sectors
collectively worked on a large scale model that speculated possible futures of Lea Valley. Though previously home to a number of industrial and agricultural industries it is now protected
under the Lea Valley park.
Inspired by the boats along the river, my individual contribution to the model was to introduce a number of rafts tethered into the banks of the river. Each raft is equipped with a different
type of lens to provide varying and novel perspectives of the ecology. Lenses include kaleidoscopes, magnifying glasses, fisheyes, thambar-style lenses, etc. Expecting rising water levels, the raft
is adaptable to future change, easily manufacture through local industrial waste streams and is easily moved by boats navigating the river.
